Ms. Benson and Mr. Ochoa

I've decided that for the rest of my college career (which, mind you, is only about 6 more weeks), I'm going to make one of the main focuses of tateblog be Ms. Kerry Benson and my Principles of Public Relations class. That class is so great, I actually started taking down notes of things today that I specifically wanted to write about right now. Justin would say, "Tate you're a nerd." Fine. Whatever. But you know you like it. So here we go.

First off, she walks into class today in what I would call a very elaborate Cleopatra costume and when everyone laughs she says, "What? It's halloween!" She probably won person of the day right there.

So early on in class she of course looks up in my row and congratulates Mr. Ochoa for the win the other day. He says thanks and she says, "Way to wing the pig." Yeah...what? She was really proud of herself because she heard some sports person say that and she had been planning on saying it to Ochoa today in class. Oh, and don't worry Jub, I gave him some pointers, but I have yet to get around to asking him which quaterback's hands feel best on his butt when he hikes the ball. That sentence is all kinds of awkward, so let's just move on.

Today in class we were analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Brittany Spears. And somebody said Brittany Spears is trashy and Benson said, "The trash factor can be a strength AND a weakness." The trash factor. Good stuff. She also listed on the board under Brittany's weaknesses, excuse the language, "dumb ass." I don't really like to hear people cuss, but I don't usually mind when it comes from Kerry Benson. Or when Chris Rock calls people the b word in The Longest Yard. Now that's just funny.

Here's a good quote:
Kerry Benson: "I like Shakira because I can tango."
Ochoa (under his breath): "Prove that."

And the quote that sums it all up:
Ochoa: "I feel like I'm in a dream when I'm in this class." Good call Mr. Ochoa. A very good dream. Let's date....I mean, what? I hope David Ochoa reads my blog someday and finds out about my weird small obsession with him.

That's all for now because I have to take a nap because I was up late again kicking the crap out of Jub in Boggle. But soon I will write about what a sweet weekend it was. Oh man, da bomb. Bye.

secrets

I'm wicked tired.

Kerry Benson is probably one of the most entertaining teachers I've ever had. I can't even describe her here, it wouldn't do justice. But here's my two favorite things she said today during PR class:

1. She was talking about how we all have all these strategic communications concepts ingrained in our minds. And then she turned to me and said, "except for you, newsie." That's right. I'm a newsie. Like the movie. Oh man, what a fabulous show. So basically, I never know what's going on in PR class, and I never know the answers, but there's some strange joy that comes to me when Ms. Kerry Benson singles me out in class. My answer is always, "uh....I don't know," but I freakin' love it.

side note: I'm watching an old episode of 7th Heaven right now, and they're all celebrating because Lucy just had her first period. Sick, I mean what the crap, who does that? The dad is like about to cry. Weird.

2. David Ochoa was not in class today, but Kerry Benson made a reference to him and called him "Mr. Blue Wings Rising." Oh man, I loved it.

Today I got my haircut and the dude that cut my hair reminded me of Chris Gorney. That was a little disturbing.

So I've entitled this blog entry "secrets." I feel like I'm holding in a lot of secrets these days. Yeah, now everyone is curious. But one of them has to do with the costume party. I'm real bad at halloween costumes, but last year was one of my favorites. Let's review:

oh man, we look good. right. so i obviously can't say anything else about secrets.

but we are almost at the one year anniversary of when i had a girl crush on emily jo ashcraft. alan pointed her out to me at the cru costume party, and after that i made it one of my goals in life to befriend her. this is our first picture together:

i love that girl. we're bff. she's one of the main reasons i don't want to leave lawrence. it's okay to multiple bffs, right? well i do so deal with it. b.

i found out the other day that i'm an external processor. justin and steve have known for years and never told me. jerks.

i'm starving. i can't write anymore. so i'll leave you with this.

that's one of my favorite pictures in life. bye.

booh to tha bah

So one day while eating our lunch before tennis class, I was looking through the guide on the TV. I noticed this program that was on called "Boohbah," and naturally I was like, what the crap is Boohbah? So we decided to check it out. We would soon find out that this, my friend, is a Boohbah:

His name is Zing Zing Zingbah, and he is da bomb. I don't know if I can even begin to explain this show to you. Here's a brief synopsis:
A colorful ball bounces around different countries and all these kids just keep saying "Boohbah, Boohbah" over and over again. Then the ball crashes into the earth. That's where the Boohbahs are. They like emerge from these pod things while making a farting type noise. They all get introduced--there's Zumbah, Jumbah, Zing Zing Zingbah, Humbah and Jingbah. Then they do a sweet dance. Everybody loves that part. Here's me loving my Zing Zing Zingbah:

But the best part of the show is what comes next, and that is story time. Some little kiddies start carrying around a big present. It's a present for the story time people. They put the present on the big rainbow thingy and it gets all weird shaped and blurry. So the kids blow on it and it flies into the air and becomes some object. Then the object is what story time revolves around. I'm getting bored. So here's some pictures of the story time people:

They're doing some sweet stuff there, I don't even know what. Anyway, I'm tired of explaining freaking boohbah so you should probably just go watch it.

Although today I watched a pretty inappropriate episode. Let's just say it involved Mr. Man and Mrs. Lady and a tunnel. I mean come on, these are children....what? I'm done. 18 life points to everyone who watches Boohbah.

six flags over jub and emily...i mean st. louis

Boohbah.

Ok, I lied. I am not yet prepared to tackle the subject of Boohbah. But it will come. Just you wait.

Let's talk about the Lou. I just went there again this past weekend with my wonderfully sarcastic bestest friends Ashcraft and Jub. We departed at the early hour of 7am on Saturday so as to get to my house in time to watch the KU-K-State game on my parents's huge TV, obviously. That's all we'll say about that.

Saturday was all right, we just chilled and then I went to the wedding of the incredible Kristi Benz. I love that girl. All my friends are marrying. I'm real glad I'm not. Marriage looks more difficult that fun to me right now. Plus when you get married you have to become an a-word. (Adult.) Plus, I'm a playa. I mean, what?

After the wedding we went to Ted Drewes and it was da bomb. But what we were all most excited about was the trip to Six Flags on Sunday. I hadn't been there in like 4 or 5 years, so I was getting real excited for the entire drive to St. Louis remembering all the sweet rides. Thunder River!! Well that one was closed. Anyway...

We first stopped off at Lion's Choice. Justin and I had been wanting to go there since the drive home from Panama City Beach on Spring Break. Our wish finally came true.

Lion's Choice da bomb.

Ok so then we went to Six Flags. I decided that my neck is much like that of a newborn baby's, because I was in serious pain on most roller coasters. Especially the freakin' Ninja.

My head slammed into the big...I don't know what it's called, the big seatbelt-type thing that goes over your head. It hurt. I yelled in pain for the whole 2 minutes of that ride. Ah the memory still brings me pain. Or maybe it's because I have whiplash and my head and neck actually are still sore. That's enough whining.

The next thing that happened was the best. Jub had decided to go on this sick ride called "Xcaliber" that spun him around a lot. Then we went on the Ninja, then we went on my personal favorite, Batman the Ride. So when that ride ends, Jub like runs off the ride. Emily and I are like, what's his deal? So we start walking down the little walkway thing and see Jub down below. He's just standing there chillin' by a railing. When we got closer, I noticed he looked pretty awful. And I was like, are you gonna puke? And he nodded. And we quickly kept walking. Emily turned back around at that point to see our friend Justin puking over the railing. Here's a little picture that captures everything from the scene:

So he puked and it was great. I mean not for him, but Emily and I were pretty happy it happened. Especially with the frequency that Justin pretends to throw-up. Now we can't always trust his gag reflexes. Sick. Anyway, here's all of us outside the Batman ride. We're thuggish, once again.

Six Flags was pretty sweet. The weekend was a test for the friendship between me and Justin because I got pissed at him for the first time ever when we got back in town. I mean we're still friends, so it's okay.

Emjo and Jub, you people are good friends. I love you guys. I especially love you for being the ultimate tate blog fans. You are my inspiration for writing...or really for posting pictures with comments under them. Whatever, I owe you any enjoyment received from tate blog.

The Bling Bling and BFFs

I'm kind-of a nomad. I left my Lawrence home on September 15 and I won't permanently move back in until October 17. That's a long freakin' time.

Last weekend I was in the Lou and my best friend from high school's wedding. Here's the three of us bffs, Miranda, Alison and me. Yeah, we're hot.

So at this wedding I got some hot bling. Or 'ice' if you will. Here's me and Jamie flashing the bling that we were real excited about getting to wear:

So the wedding weekend was way fun, and when I got home, I put my bling away and didn't really think I'd ever wear it again.

Later that week after CRU, I met this dude named Stu. He's Aurom's friend and they both had sweet bling in their ears. I thought to myself, I want to start wearing my sweet bling in everyday life. I turned to Emily and said, what if I wore my bling all weekend at the retreat? She laughed at me. But sure enough, I showed up at the retreat looking like this:

That's my bff Matt. I have a lot of those. Ok let's take a break from all the bling talk and talk about Fall Getaway. It was pretty much da bomb. Here's some of the highlights:

lucas trying to dance up on me as usual.

alan's shirt is too small, justin doesn't know how to dance, emily is hot.

luke's face looking intense.

me and matt and justin are tennis class bffs.

bling blingin by kish's car.

i love them.

jen and danielle set up a periscope in the back of the car. it seemed necessary.

katie dennis looks incredible.

ok so anyway, bling bling. today i wore the bling to tennis class. i love it. i don't know what it is about those sparkling gems that are too big for my ears, but man i love them.

this is long and i'm tired. i mostly just wanted to write the word bling a lot and post some sweet pictures. i'll try to have more content soon. in the mean time, you can find me in st. louie flashing my bling at kristi benz's wedding and/or at six flags. holla at yabah. oh boobah. that will probably be my next topic. yes definitely.
