college is done? what?

We'll start with cake and ovens.

Yesterday was Liz Brown's birthday, so we made her funfetti cake, obviously. Usually when we make the cake, we don't have any way to cover it, so we just store it in the microwave.

But we're real gross here in Kentucky Place Apt. 1, and that microwave hasn't been cleaned in a long long time, which means there's nasty soup and other food stains all up on the walls. We realized after awhile that keeping the delicious funfetti cake in there was causing it to take on the smells of the microwave. Sick.

So this time, we decided to store the cake back in the oven. We were talking about it today, and I was like, what if someone forgets it's in there and starts making something in the oven? Hahaha.

Twenty minutes later I turn on the oven. Ten minutes after that, I start to smell the cake.

Oops.

The icing was sick. Some of it dripped to the bottom of the oven, and man, it smelled disgusting. I'm an idiot. How could I forget the cake was in there after even commenting on it? Oh well. I got to make and eat some delicious macaroni and cheese cassarole, so I was fine. At the time.

An hour and a half later, I go to play raquetball with Jub. I had eaten half the pan of my macaroni stuff, and I wanted to puke. He beat me in three games. But at least I know I can beat him when he plays with his right hand. Ok, he's left-handed.

As we were leaving the Rec, our friends Hans and Franz walked out at the same time as us. If you're not familiar with Hans and Franz, they're the real muscley twin dudes that always played tennis during our tennis class. They're also always together and always doing something athletic. It's weird.

I saw them get into their car, so naturally, we decided to follow them. We followed them all the way out to the Legends, which we discovered is where they live. Near Abbey Faris, who says, "they're hot."

Shortly after our stalking trip and a quick visit to Lydia Thomas, I went into the KU police station to get fingerprinted. Turns out we're totally busted for stalking those dudes. So I'm actually writing this from the Douglas County prison right now.

Ok just kidding. I had to get fingerprinted to be a substitute teacher, obviously. Here's me preparing to be a substitute teacher:

Although who knows when I'll actually be doing that job. Who knows what I'm even doing tomorrow? I have no idea, I just know I'll either be in New Orleans or Heaven. Not bad.

It's Christmas break. Get ready for some serious tate blogging. Starting next week.

Ochoa and I are dating. I mean, we had a conversation on the last day of class. It was great, and everything I ever thought it could be.

Roll Bounce.

i'm not real

I think this is what it feels like to be intoxicated. I've been sitting on my couch for the last 45 minutes just kind-of spacing out and talking to the other people in the room (Danielle, Linsie, Melissa, Clint) every once in a while.

One time it was quiet and I said, "maybe I should go clean my room." And then I shook my head.

Today....I'm tired. I graduated. I watched 2gether. I ate Steak 'n Shake. I studied. I talked to Tommy Bobo online about mutating into a ninja turtle. I ate brunch at First Watch. I uploaded pictures on the facebook. I talked to Kerry Benson. I watched Emily meet Kerry Benson.

I took a picture with Kerry Benson. Best day of the semester.

I have no idea what I'm doing in life, but I'm so content. I mean this weekend (which I will only briefly describe here) consisted of seeing Narnia with good people, two sweet Christmas parties, two sweet graduations, and way lots of other sweet stuff. But for now, since I'm slow blinking as I type this, and I'm reminded of that time I called Justin "Home," I think it's time for bed.

Micah Thomas encouraged me to not study at all since all I have to do is pass my classes and I'm done forever, so maybe I'll just write in tate-blog all the time. I'll probably study. And play Boggle. And love Emily Ashcraft. And love all of you.

life is weird

i feel weird lately. life isn't being normal, but i can't figure out why. and finally watching garden state last night made it weirder. i watched that movie because mark poshak told me to, and i felt it was time. if you haven't seen it, you probably shouldn't read the second paragraph of the following, but this is some stuff i wrote in an email to mark explaining my thoughts:

ok, so i watched garden state. interesting. first off, let's just say i'm not really into those type of movies. like off the beaten path movies. second off, i was pissed off at the end. third, it's a really good thing i never watched it until now because i realized throughout that in a way the relationship between those two reminds me of a certain previous relationship of mine. but it's fine now.

anyway, i got so mad at the end that it made me forget the rest of the movie. i was like, yeah right. they're both crazy, and therefore this relationship will not work out and he needs to figure it out on his own anyway or he'll always just be clinging to that crazy girl. it had only been 4 days, he doesn't even really know her.

plus, i wish i had previous warning that this movie was way more chick flick than i thought. because i hate chick flicks. and that was the end. i am still trying to think about the movie though and figure out why everyone loves it so much.

i just usually try not to fall into weird, new idea things that everyone becomes obsessed with. like garden state. and blue like jazz. it's like someone tries to make this commentary about life and be different, but then it just ends up becoming a trend anyway. you know what i mean? like with blue like jazz, everyone was like, oh here's this sweet book that tells me i should be different and not do what everyone else is doing, but then everyone reads the book and everyone lives the book and then everyone is following a trend again. anyway, those are just some life observations.

i'm not trying to say i don't like blue like jazz though, because i haven't even read the whole thing. mostly i'm just pointing out the irony.

we'll just call this the deep thoughts tate-blog.

so in order to lighten things up, i'll give you some good kerry benson material. there's this real funny dude in our class who goes by the name pookie (yeah i don't know) and they had a little interaction today that went something like this:

(there's another student--a pretty awkward one--at the front of the class that everybody is telling to do different things in order to find the best way we should stand when giving presentations)
Pookie: I'd like to see you do the Macarena.
Benson: Oh stop that Pookie you're going to hell.
Pookie: I'll see you there.
Benson: Yeah, we'll be on the same bobsled together.

Bobsled? What the crap is this woman talking about? Also, have I ever mentioned that she is a minister's daughter? It was funny, but also sad at the same time.

Okay this is probably the most depressing tate-blog ever. I'm really sorry. I mean, I'm not even mad or sad. I'm actually quite content with life. For the most part.

Current Boggle standings:
Jub: 4
Tate: 2

So...I love you? I don't really know how to make this better. Uh...

If a picture of Steve and me spooning doesn't make you feel better, I don't know what would. Let me just say that, yes, our friend Steve Sweat was the one who initiated this little situation. The same one who freaks out if you ever accidentally touch his stomach or kiss his hand. After he saw the picture, he said something like this:

"Oh my gosh I feel awkward. Why didn't anyone tell me this looked that bad? I'm never doing that again."

Did anyone notice I stopped typing in all lowercase in the midst of this post?

I had a "decaf" latte tonight. I'm beginning to wonder just how "decaf" those things are, because it's 1:37 am and I'm pretty wide awake. Oops. But it's okay because this was on my to do list.

Well let's just keep going then. X-Team retreat. I'll let the pictures explain:

We love the Belcher Ranch for many reasons. One of them is the fabulous coats that are found in the hall closet. This picture is creepily similar to the one we took on women's retreat in March. Gosh, why did those hot pink and teal jackets go out of style? And who could go wrong with the Orlando Magic Starter Jacket from back when Shaq was on the team?

This is Kyle dancing to what became our song for the 24 hour (not even) retreat: Celebrate Jesus Celebrate off of some cheesy but incredible praise songs CD.

Here's me and Jub making light of last year drama. I'll leave it at that. Use your imagination. Or knowledge.

And I just really like this picture. Melissa Hartnett and Liz Fowler. What more do you need?

Also, I don't have a picture for this, but when Lauren Kish and I got to the house, we went down to the lake to find Mark Brown and Jeff Burgess shooting guns and smoking cigars. It was great. And Mark Brown let me shoot his rifle. I've never shot a gun before that. And at one point him and Jeff Burgess were standing a little ways away from us, and he says, "hey can you ladies face the other way for a minute?" After he says it's okay to look again, he says something like, "sorry, those sonic route 44s..." Yeah that's right. Mark Brown peed on a tree while Lauren Kish and I had our backs turned. Oh, Dictator Mark.

This post really escalated quickly. And I really should go do other things with my life. I graduate Sunday. Weird. Life. It'll get you. And it won't let go.

Hey we'll be living it up at DCC in less than a month! Sweet.
